What is Google Search Console?

Google Search Console is a free Google tool that shows how your website actually performs in Google Search - not estimates, but the real data Google holds on your site. Once you verify you own the domain, four things become visible:

  • Performance - the queries that surfaced your pages, with clicks, impressions and average position
  • Pages / Coverage - which pages Google has indexed, and which it skipped and why
  • Sitemaps - whether Google has read the list of pages you submitted
  • Experience - mobile usability and Core Web Vitals flags

It is the single most useful free tool for a small business, because every figure comes straight from Google rather than a third-party estimate. If you do one SEO thing this month, verify your site in Search Console - you cannot fix what you cannot see.
