What is a secondary DNS provider?

Secondary DNS is a second, independent provider answering lookups for your domain, so one provider’s outage does not take you off the internet:

• DNS is a single point of failure - if nobody can resolve your name, your website and email are gone regardless of how healthy they are.
• Both providers are listed as authoritative - resolvers use whichever answers.
• Zone changes must reach both - by transfer or by keeping the records in step.

Overkill for a brochure site; sensible once online orders or a booking system are carrying real revenue.
