What is domain privacy and should I use it?

Domain privacy replaces your personal contact details in public WHOIS with a forwarding service. For .au domains the question is largely settled for you:

• auDA already restricts what is shown - registrant contact details are not published in the same way as many international TLDs.
• Eligibility is public by design - .au registrations are tied to an ABN or ACN, which is a matter of public record anyway.
• For .com and other TLDs it is worth it - it reduces the spam and social-engineering that follows a public registration.

Whatever you choose, keep the real contact details behind it accurate; that is what proves control when it matters.
