How much does SMB1001 certification cost?

SMB1001 certification fees scale with tier, and at the higher tiers the real cost is implementation rather than the certificate itself. Indicative pricing at the time of writing:

  • Bronze — roughly $75–100 a year
  • Silver — roughly $150–300 a year
  • Gold — a certification fee in the hundreds per year, plus the implementation budget: EDR licences for every device, a cyber insurance policy, and email authentication work
  • Platinum and Diamond — roughly $3,000–8,000 for the independent audit at typical small-business size, before implementation

Every tier recertifies annually against the current edition of the standard. For comparison, ISO 27001 certification typically runs to tens of thousands of dollars — SMB1001 exists precisely so a small business can hold a certificate that does not cost more than the IT it certifies. Budget for the controls, not the certificate: the certificate fee is the smallest line on the invoice.
